Well, well, well… here we are, more than halfway through January and whoa—has it been a whirlwind or what? As much as we love a fresh new year, we’ve been running full speed ahead helping families organize, declutter, and settle into their new homes. It's been so exciting, but, ahem… the blog post? Yeah, it sort of took a backseat this week. But hey, we’re making up for it with a seriously fun update on what’s been happening behind the scenes at House of J.
New Year, New Faces (and a LOT of New Projects!)
First off, we’ve got some exciting changes going on around here. If you’ve been following along on social media, you’ve probably noticed a few new faces on the team! We recently welcomed some incredible people who bring fresh perspectives and tons of calming energy to the table. Our new group of organizers is a vibrant mix of moms, care takers, yoga gurus, mindfulness mavens and all-around caring people. (If you need more support with grief + life transitions while organizing we HIGHLY recommend working with Caroline- @hellocollo) I really have been blown away by the community that has been shared with this team. Everyone is really clicking, and we couldn’t be more excited about the year ahead.

We had a killer team dinner at Ember + Ash in East Passyunk around the holidays. It was the kind of gathering where the food was so good, we didn’t care that the temperature outside was dropping to sub-zero levels. We swapped stories of past projects and laughed about some of the most unusual items we’ve found while organizing. There’s something about sharing these moments outside of working hours together that really bonds us as a team—and we can already see that energy translating into the work we’re doing for our clients. It’s like a little secret ingredient that makes the organizing magic happen!
Setting Intentions: For Myself & the Business
Now, onto something that’s been a big part of my own January: setting intentions. I don’t mean just the “I’m going to drink more water” kind of goals (though trust me, I’ve set those too!). I’ve been reflecting on what’s working, where we can grow, and how we can make 2025 the year of effortless home organization. As a business owner, I believe it’s crucial to constantly evolve, and this year, I’m focused on enhancing our customer experience even more. That might mean more personalized organizing plans, more “fun” decluttering strategies (because let’s face it, no one wants to dread tidying up), and definitely some new collaborations with other awesome local businesses to help our clients truly feel at home.
So if you’ve noticed us getting a little more creative, it’s because I’ve been embracing that “let’s go all in” mindset this year. And the results? Well, they’re already starting to show—clients are loving the custom solutions we’re offering, and honestly, it’s motivating me to push even harder for bigger and better things in 2025.
Pre-Move Decluttering: Why You Shouldn’t Wait ‘Til the Last Minute
Now let’s talk about what we’ve really been up to this month—decluttering! You wouldn’t believe the number of people who move in January and February, and let me tell you, there’s nothing more stressful than moving into a new home with piles of old stuff cluttering your space. That’s why we’ve been helping people with pre-move decluttering in a big way this month. If you’re moving soon, the last thing you want is to lug that old coffee table with the wobbly leg or the stack of magazines you “might read one day.” We’ve got a team that can help you sort through all of that BEFORE the move, so you can start fresh in your new place.
Sometimes, you just need a little guidance and a fresh perspective to make the decluttering process feel like a win.

Unpacking & Organizing: Transforming Chaos Into Calm
Once you’ve decluttered, it’s time to unpack—and we all know that can be a challenge! But here’s the deal: we’ve perfected the art of unpacking and organizing. Moving boxes in January can feel like you’re battling the cold on two fronts: the freezing temperatures and the clutter. That’s where we step in! Our team’s expert unpackers know exactly how to turn that mountain of boxes into neatly organized rooms that actually work for your life.
One of our most recent projects involved a family moving from Philly across the bridge to New Jersey into the CUTEST cozy home in the suburbs. We helped them declutter, pack and unpack. We opened every box and prepared them for their first night together as a family in their new home. I like to think that we left them feeling SO much more settled and ready to take on the new year. If you’re feeling overwhelmed by the thought of unpacking, we’ve got you covered.

Let’s Cozy Up to a More Organized Home This Winter
With all the cold weather, let’s face it—we’re spending more time indoors, so why not make your home a place you love to be? There’s nothing better than being wrapped in a blanket on your couch, sipping hot cocoa, while looking around at a space that feels serene and organized. Our team is here to make sure that’s exactly what you’re walking into at the end of the day, no matter how frigid it is outside.
If you’re ready to tackle your own organizing goals for the year, whether it’s decluttering, unpacking, or making your space feel truly functional, we’re just a phone call or email away. We’re pumped about all the new projects, new faces, and fresh intentions we’ve got going on this year. Let’s make 2025 your most organized, stress-free year yet!
Stay warm (and organized!)
