Why We’re Not Like the Others—And Why That Matters
Walk into most homes that have hired a professional organizer and you’ll probably see color-coded bins, pretty labels, and tidy drawers that look like a page out of a magazine. It’s beautiful—but it’s not us, (not always).
At House of J. Consulting LLC we believe in something a little deeper. We believe in home organizing with heart.
That means we’re not here just to style your space. We’re here to help you let go of what’s weighing you down—physically AND emotionally. Our process starts long before the bins and baskets. It starts with listening. It starts with care. This is a process we are open to joining you for, as long as it takes.
The Truth Behind the Clutter
Here's how I see it. Clutter is rarely just “stuff.” More often with the people I see every day, it’s a funny little combo of grief, guilt, fear, or just plain overwhelm. All of which is TOTALLY NORMAL, espeically in today's modern shopaholic, "Buy Now", TikTok shop obsessed world.
As a proud millenial, I can remember when shopping was more of a passing activity trying on dresses for fun and wandering the mall, or flipping through the pages of a Delia's catalog in my bedroom. Sure, my part time high school jobs working at Sesame Place and a local mom and pop diner didn't afford me the same luxury I have now to spend endlessly with too many credit cards at the tip of my fingers (all of which are automatically saved on websites- whoever thought of this is just evil)
We are all working against the current system that is constantly telling us we need the next best things-or maybe multples of the same thing even! Many of my clients tell me they suffer from clutter because they have a few of the same things floating around the house, maybe one on each floor. What started as convienient for city rowhome living with lots of stairs has now exasperated the "stuff" issue.
I get it. I worked in retail for years tempted by the newness of things every day, and who doesn't like a little dopamine hit from a purchase? It feels better than some of the alternatives.. So when we show up, we don’t judge. We don’t push. We don’t come in with a plan to “fix” you or your home. YOU are not a problem to be fixed, but if you're having a problem feeling at ease in your own home and don't know where to start- we can help.
We start by understanding what’s going on underneath. Are you holding on to baby clothes because your youngest just started kindergarten? Or maybe they are grown and out of the house and their baby items are all thats left in their place. Is the garage packed because your parents’ things are still there, years after they passed? These are the stories we hold space for.
Because you can’t organize what you’re not ready to let go of—and that’s okay. We’re not in a rush.
Organizing for Real Life
We serve clients who are done trying to keep up appearances. Our people aren’t looking for Pinterest-perfect pantries. They’re looking for a home that works—one that breathes with them, flexes with their lifestyle, and gives them peace of mind.
That’s why we prioritize decluttering first. The truth is, you don’t need more bins—you need less stuff and we'll stand our ground to make this point over and over. We’ll help you make confident decisions, one item at a time. We’ll coach you through the “what if I need it” moments, and we’ll celebrate every bag of donations like it’s a win—because it REALLY is!
And when it’s time to organize? We’ll do it in a way that supports your real, messy, beautiful life. No judgment. No shame. Just systems that work for you.
A Hands-On, Heart-Open Team
What also makes us different? We don’t just send one person with a label maker and a deadline. We’re a team—especially when my husband Steve is with me—who can move furniture, install shelves, assemble that IKEA monstrosity that’s been in the box for six months. When Brittany, my best friend of 20 years is on the job you know she's going to treat you just like another friend-never sugar coating things. If that box of old dvds hasn't seen the light in 20 years and you don't even have a player to watch them anymore- they've gotta go babe and she's not afraid to tell you! We bring care, muscle, and a little humor.
But most importantly, we bring presence. I do my best to never have mysef or you feeling rushed, dismissed, or like you’re just “another client.” And if you need more time, we can plan another day. Our focus is always on you and your needs. This is why I moved my new client phone calls to specific times of the week as to not interfer with our very personal process and keep me focused only on you ALL DAY.

Who We Serve
We work best with people who are ready to make changes—even if they feel stuck in the moment. You take the first step to reach out and we'll take it from there.
Our clients are often high-achieving people, raising young families while trying to break old cycles. Many are in therapy, seeking emotional growth, and are looking for real, lasting solutions—not just temporary fixes.
You don’t need to have it all together. You just need to be open to support.
The Heart Behind the Mission
Our mission is simple:
To help you reclaim your home—and your peace of mind—through thoughtful, judgment-free decluttering and organizing.
We don’t believe in one-size-fits-all systems. We believe in people. In healing. In slow, intentional progress. And yes, we believe in making space—not just on your shelves, but in your life.
So no, we’re not like the other organizers.
And we’re proud of that.
If you’re ready to clear the clutter and find clarity—with a team who gets it—reach out.
We’re here with open hands and open hearts.
